About Antony Shave

Hello there,
I’m Antony Shave, the creator of the course The Strategy Process.
Before you consider buying this course you probably want to know more about me, why I have anything to say about strategy, strategic thinking, and strategy development, and why I have created this course.
Firstly, since 1999 I’ve designed and facilitated over 300 strategy development and leadership team alignment workshops with management teams from organisations all over the world. This has meant meeting, observing, and working with thousands of managers; noticing how they think, what makes them tick, and what simple tools and skills can add outsized amounts of value for them.
Secondly, in my early thirties I was a consultant with McKinsey & Company in their South Africa office. Not only did I have the good fortune to learn from some of the smartest people I have ever met, but the office sponsored a four-month full-time facilitation development programme for a number of consultants, including me. This intense learning experience followed immediately by live client workshops helped me to understand how to design and lead meaningful learning experiences for leaders and managers.
Thirdly, in my twenties I served as an officer in the Royal Marines. Fifteen months of demanding young officer training followed by real leadership experience leading Royal Marines in the UK, Norway, Northern Ireland, the Caribbean, and Hong Kong. It was this experience that taught be the basics of strategy, leadership, and team development.
I started conceptualising and writing this course on Strategic Thinking mid-2024. Now at the start of 2025 the first version of the course is now ready. It has been designed for leaders and managers who would benefit from developing their strategic thinking even further and who at some stage want to create a new strategy for their team, department, whole organisation, or even a start-up.
Whilst I do occasionally teach strategy development and strategy execution at a business school here in the UK, this course does not cover all the detail that you would find on a Strategy Module of an MBA programme. That said, it covers what I think are the core essentials when it comes to strategic thinking and strategy development.
These core essentials are based on what I have seen work in the real world amongst hundreds of management teams striving on a day-to-day basis to solve challenges and take advantage of opportunities.
I have tried to simplify what can seem complicated, and make practical what can feel abstract and academic.
I hope you find it valuable.
Antony
